Oh, we are sisters under the skin! Some of the paintings I most covet are Constable’s cloud studies. I think it must be the influence of the large skies in East Anglia ;)Sandby’s landscapes are exquisite, IMVHO.

i have become more intriguied with landscape painting since I read a book on the little ice age in England, and how researchers have used the clouds formations in paintings over the centuries are part of their information pool. The images you chose to share with us are beautiful, and show the differing moods of the skies.

Oh well! It IS a beautiful book, and I have it on my Amazon Wish List (Along with several others you’ve reviewed and recommended — you know how it is with the “Shelf Space” problem. :-) ) I do occasionally get rid of some, and then there’s rom for more, hence the “Wish List.”

Beautiful pictures. It is about $33 here in the states through Amazon…
