As the most recent adaptation of Emma ends its current screening on PBS tonight, this marks the end of the AustenOnly Emma season of posts. I do hope you have enjoyed them.
From tomorrow we shall begin a short Northanger Abbey season, for as I understand it, the next Austen production to be screened by PBS will be the ITV adaptation of Northanger Abbey starring Felicity Jones and JJ Feild.
I do hope you will join me for some Gothically inspired posts….don’t be afriad now, will you?

The only thing I am afraid of is that adaptation; I did not like it at all. But I most definitely am looking forward to reading your posts on the subject of all things Gothic.

LOl-it had I elements I liked and some I didn’t . Making Catherine a fan of The Monk was an incomparably stupid notion. I loved JJ Feild as Henry Tilney. I hated the fact that they filmed in Dublin and not in Bath.
But luckily the text of the novel has none of these problems, and that is why this site is named AustenOnly

Very true. I also hated her fantasies. They were far too, shall we say, racy for such an innocent.
As I’ve said before, I am re-reading all 6 novels this year for the first time in way too long. I have never been a fan of Northanger Abbey, but maybe this time will do the trick. I don’t know if I have the discipline to do all 6 every year, but maybe this year’s re-read will start a trend.
Cheers!

I think you might enjoy re-reading the others- I find my opinion of them has changed after the years.

Northanger Abbey!! You assuage my grief over the loss of Emma. I adore this novel. By my way of thinking, it can never can be discussed too much. I just reread Emma, as a way of celebrating the mini-series, and your posts were lovely companions; it was like reading a whole new annotated edition. I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on Northanger and am only concerned that you’ll provoke me to read that book again, instead of doing what I should be. At least it’s a short one, so the detraction can’t last too long.

Well, that woudnt be too bad a thing
All Six Every Year is a creed I’ve lived by since I was 15 ! There is always something new to discover.
Thank you for your really kind comments about my posts:that is really what Im attempting to do here- provide a body of posts that can be read along with the novels to clarify points in the texts.

Thanks for your ever insightful posts on Emma, Julie:). And now for NA. Since PBS will also broadcast P3 (2007) again, are there going to be also posts on P in the upcoming weeks?
